Robert Taylor (Bobby) worked with Derrick West since he was 18. on and off for over 30 years from the ship yard to the oyster company and finally west whelks.
In his last few years he worked in the whelk factory before sadly passing away 2011 once again a dear friend who is missed very much.

George Rigden worked for West Whelks and in the industry for over 60 years, George was a bright light to look forward to every day with his sense of excitement that he carried around with him. George sadly passed away 2010.

Graham West took over the family business in 1993, and has since followed on in the footsteps of Derrick & Jean West.
The company has grown and is alway looking forward in a positive direction but still believes in the personal touch.

Billijay West (Phidy) has the sea running through him, since stepping on-to the scene at the age of 13,
over years he has been at sea whelking, trawling, scalloping, lobstering and so much more.
Over the last few years, he has taken a back stage role running the online side of west whelks as well as organising Whitstable Native Oyster Store with his father Graham West to concentrate on his career else where.

Beccijo West has been on the scene since she was a wee child, today she shares her time between West Whelks and her other employer.

Jamielee West. Diamond in everyones eyes, has since become a Vet Nurse after completing her degree at The Royal Veterinary College.
A very bright future ahead of her and you can often see her pinching skate out of the chillers when she visits from Devon .

Kevin has worked for West Whelks for the past five years, managing the oyster store.
Kevin is an avid game man and is always willing to talk about his days in new zealand hunting.
